CHAPTER 10

On the dark street, Daniels sat in her car with the seat laid back. She was dressed in all black from head to toe. a black ski mask covered her face. Daniels was on a mission. She followed her prey from the lounge and was now waiting for them to get of their car before she made her move. While waiting on her would be victim, she sipped on a Bud Ice and chain-smoked Newports.

Daniels watched as her victim clumsily walked up to the front door. They fumbled with their keys trying to find the right one to unlock the door. They were too focused on trying to get in the house to see Daniels sneak up on them. From behind Daniels wrapped some wire around her victim’s neck. Her victim grabbed at Daniels’ hand. Daniels pulled the wire tighter, choking the life out of them. The body fell to the ground but Daniels wasn’t finished. She dragged the body into her car and stuffed it into her trunk. She rode through the city and ended up at Leakin Park where she dumped the body.

“Come on, Tony; answer the gotdamn phone!”

Cindy paced around in her bedroom. A week had gone by since Cindy last spoke with Tony. At first, his phone would ring but now it was going straight to his voicemail. Cindy was worried sick about her cousin. She called all the local hospitals and jails. Neither of them had any record of him. She didn’t want to do a missing person’s report because she still had a little hope that he was alive and was just chilling somewhere.

“Call me, Tony,” she left on his voicemail.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Cindy knew that knock from anywhere. Her stomach dropped down to her feet. Either they were there to arrest her or they were there to give her some bad news. Cindy rather they were there to arrest her instead of hearing anything bad about Tony.

Cindy rushed down the steps to the front door. She swung the door open ready for whatever they were there for.

“Ms. Warner?”

“Yes?”

“You were listed as the next of kin for Tony Drummond.”

“Yes. Is everything okay?”

“I’m sorry to inform you but his body was found in Leakin Park this morning. We need you to come down to identify the body.”

Cindy’s legs gave out on her and she fell on the floor. She grabbed her stomach and screamed at the top of her lungs.

“No!” She covered her face with her hands and cried into them.

One of the officers picked Cindy up off the floor and helped her to the couch. Cindy rocked back and forth rubbing her arms.

“I know it’s hard to lose a loved one unexpectedly and we are very sorry for your loss. Do you think you can come down and identify him?”

“I can’t right now. My grandson is upstairs. I can be there as soon as I find someone to watch him.”

Rell threw his phone on the bed. “Why is your mother calling my phone?”

“I don’t know.
